Hello dear reader! My name is Victoria and, like the rest of my team, I am studying my second year of Journalism at Carlos III University of Madrid. My role inside the Teenformation project is to be the web designer, that is, to plan, create and code the layout of the website you are currently reading from. To put it simply: the aesthetics! My appeal to the role came in tune with my artistic and dreamy personality. I am a sucker for beautiful things and I like to reinforce my most creative side whenever I get a chance.

When I think of journalism I think of courage, passion and determination to communicate true information.

However, this definition is quite vague and the practice is much broader than that. I believe a lot of people have a romanticized notion of what journalism is, and think of journalists as people who work every hour to uncover “hard truths”. Though that is one spectrum of the journalistic sphere (and do not get me wrong, a quite important one), there are so many other paths and disciplines comprising the job that are often overlooked. If you ask me now which of the many paths inside the field I would like to follow, the answer would be: I am not quite sure yet. Not only am I indecisive but I also happen to find enjoyment in a lot of different things. What is clear to me, is that I love writing, reading and voicing my ideas. So, at least I know I am on the right track.

Also relating to my aesthete personality, comes my love for the arts, music and most importantly fashion. For the past 3 years, I have worked inside the fashion industry as a model and I think of fashion as a powerful way of expression, an outside reflection of who people are. Thus, one of my preferred goals would be to pursue a career inside fashion communication.

We can agree that today nothing is done without the means of technology involved. To me, the digitalization of media has meant a new way of getting information across in a quicker, more extensive and less complicated way. In terms of spread of knowledge, the past two decades have been nothing but revolutionary.

For that, digital journalism has undeniably added value to traditional media and far from being the end of it, it’s become the future.

Here at Teenformation we will cover the journey and transformation of journalism in the digital world. Keep posted for more!
