How Does Axios Work With Information?

Actualizado: 11 may 2022

BY VICTOR LÓPEZ SÁNCHEZ

As any other media outlet does, Axios process their information to create interesting and complete articles to be offered to readers. By taking a closer approach to these articles, we will be able to understand why Axios works with news in a unique way that highlights their brand.

Reading “between the lines”

Nowadays, people don’t have as much time as they had in the past to read carefully through the news. Because of that, we may find that at the end of the story, some information considered as “secondary”, is highlighted. With this technique, we avoid distracting the reader from paying attention to what really matters in the story. Furthermore, it is intelligent to include the names of two of the most googled countries at the current time: the U.S and Ukraine. Therefore, there are more possibilities of appearing in the search results.

Social media goes a step further

Media outlets are not only in charge of spreading verified information, but sharing their thoughts on the different situations presented through their articles. Social media has always been a method for sharing the story; now Axios makes social media part of it. However, this fact is surrounded by "ambivalence", in the sense of both good and bad meanings. On the one hand, we get more visitors by sharing, and consequently we become more influential. On the other hand, influence is too difficult to handle, and what we say could heavily affect our social environment. As in the example, a social media like Twitter could shape the result of the 2024 presidential election.

Your daily life, closer than you think

International affairs are indeed very important, as whatever happens between two countries can end in affecting the rest of the world community. But sometimes, as individuals we are, we prefer to read something more useful and applicable to our daily lives. Axios provides articles classified in certain cities of the US, with each of them appearing in the headlines (consequently appearing first in the search lists). As an example, if we live in Austin, Texas, we might be interested in knowing what to do through the first weekend of May. The article includes links for each of the activities mentioned, and at the end, we can find a newsletter dedicated to the city, for always getting notified with all those news concerning our hometown.
