Hi! I'm Víctor López, and like most of my colleagues, I am also in my second year of Journalism, here at Carlos III University. I belong to the creative team and I carry out my role as expert in SEO.

If I had to define journalism in a single word, it would be “transmission”. One of the aspects that have always characterized humans is the fact that we are passionate and constant in the art of telling things. It does not matter if they are myths or reality, but there is no lack of effectiveness in the way they are told.

One of my dreams is to become an important poet and writer in the future.

When I say that I like to write, it does not mean that I am keen on beating a keyboard or picking a pencil. The true meaning behind that phrase is that I love to transmit my emotions to other people. If I feel love in some specific words, I want people to feel love too, and to spread those words among others. It goes the same way with other feelings and fields, such as journalism. That is why I ended up choosing this career path.

When we get to know a certain piece of information, the first thing we realize is that we must transmit it to others. The way of sharing information has changed through the decades, as society has been developing specifically to achieve certain research methods. Nowadays, by the use of social media and the Internet, data can be shared in less than a second.

Some people may say that adapting journalism to the technologic realm is a risky and doubtful decision, but they could not be more wrong. As we progress as a society, our journalism has to keep on advancing and transforming. However, it is true that we are living within what I am used to call an “Infodemic”. We receive more data than ever, and we cannot 100% assure which pieces of information are true and which are fake news.

But we must learn from our past, to apply to our present, so we can change our future. Information is a treasure, and our duty as journalists is to preserve it.
