Axios: Events Further Than News.

Actualizado: 11 may 2022

By PATRICIA FRANCESCH.

Axios is a business that goes beyond journalism. Their intention is to transpose their idea of journalism to the rest of the world’s aspects. As they mention, the goal of their events is to suggest an analysis of the most transformative and consequential trends that build our actual world. This way they try to join their journalism to productions that complete their meanings. They offer a channel to subscribe in so that everyone can be able to participate and get involved in the productions they investigate in. Their events are really all about conversations with professionals and experts on relevant topics, this way they have gotten involved in climate change, politics, social issues…

These are some of the productions or events they have been working on:

  • NEWS SHAPERS: EARTH DAY'S CALL FOR CLIMATE ACTION 🡪 An Earth Day conversation on U.S. climate priorities: where Axios co-founder Mike Allen joined energy reporter Ben Geman, and in the name of the White House: National Climate Adviser Gina McCarthy and the president of the Centre for Climate and Energy Solutions, Nat Keohane to talk about the priorities on the U.S. climate agenda and their goals referring to clean energy.

  • UNDERSTANDING CRYPTO-HYPE 🡪 They have also positioned and talked about this new modern trend in a conversation on the future of crypto adoption. In this conversation, industrial technology reporters Ryan Lawler and Lucinda Shen developed the idea of how the crypto industry plans to improve its legitimacy, as a valuable way of ‘payment’ as well as its regulatory framework. On this talk some of their participants were senator Cynthia Lummis and policy chief officer Tomicah Tillemann.

  • WOMEN AND WORK IN THE COVID-19 ERA 🡪 A conversation on the pandemic's burden on business women. Axios political reporter Sarah Mucha with business reporter Erica Pandey joined Senator Joni Ernst and Small Business Administration administrator Isabel Guzman, to examine the pandemic impact on entrepreneur women and their work. An important fact to highlight is that Guzman confirmed that 2021’s entrepreneurship boom was mainly made by women.

  • “AXIOS ON HBO” 🡪 AXIOS has collaborated with HBO in a documental series called. This documentary-news program combines the reporting of Axios journalists and reporters with the experts of HBO filmmakers to explore the collision of tech, media, business, and politics. This series has even featured some important personalities such as interviews with: Donald Trump, Sundar Pichai, Elon Musk, Mary Barra, Tim Cook, Joe Biden, Andrew Yang and Kamala Harris, among others. By now it has two seasons. In the first one the interview we think is one of the most interesting is the one to Elon Musk, an exclusive interview for the special program where Musk says he sees a 70% chance of him living to ride on his SpaceX rockets to Mars. Another interesting interview of that first season was to the former president of the United States: Donald Trump, in an interview where he affirms railing against his enemies in the media had helped him win. In the second season of the documentary, one of the most important interviews is to the president of Iraq Barham Salih, who dodges when asked the chances that Prime Minister Adil Abdul-Mahdi would remain in power in the wake of deadly anti-government protests but expects that he will.

  • THEIR FOLLOWING EVENT 🡪 Tech’s Antitrust Debate a conversation that will take place next May 12th. The Senate has proposed a new anti-trust legislation that has been promoting its debate on its impact on the technological industry and its consumers. It will consist of a conversation between Axios Tech Policy Reporter Ashley Gold and Managing Editor for Politics Margaret Talev.
